NORTHFIELD, Minn. —
Shawn McCarthy (Crystal Lake, Ill.) recorded the Cardinals' lone first-place finish as the Saint Mary's University men's swimming and diving team was beaten by Carleton 138-45 Saturday afternoon.
Carleton completed the MIAC dual-meet sweep, beating the SMU women's team 206-23, while the Concordia women's team also defeated SMU, 189-40.
McCarthy posted the day's top time in the 200 breaststroke, touching the wall first in 2:26.6.
Ben Chastek (St. Paul, Minn.) finished second in the event (2:29.66), while McCarthy and Chastek also teamed with
Kyle Van Lith (Appleton, Wis.) and
Scott Schultz (Cary, Ill.) to place second in the 400 freestyle relay (3:33.73).
Katie Krebsbach (Mendota Heights, Minn.) turned in the top performance for the women, placing second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 59.33.
