Cardinals win second straight

Game Summary

WINONA, Minn. — Jason Dzick (Duluth, Minn.) scored a game-high 16 points as the Saint Mary's University men's basketball team beat St. Olaf 79-60 Saturday afternoon at the SMU gym, completing the season sweep of the Oles and giving the Cardinals their first two-game winning streak of the season.

The Cardinals, who snapped a nine-game losing streak on Monday with a 76-60 win over Viterbo, shot a sizzling 52 percent from the field (26-for-50), while holding the Oles to just 15 field goals in 51 attempts (29 percent).

Nick Michaels (Dyer, Ind.) and Andy Bohnker (Story City, Iowa) also scored in double figures for SMU, netting 13 and 11 points, respectively. Michaels also pulled in a team-high eight rebounds.

Mike Ludwig, the conference's leading scorer, equalled Dzick's game-high performance to lead St. Olaf, while Kevin Jaunich finished with 13 points.

The Cardinals improved to 2-9 in the MIAC and 3-12 overall, while St. Olaf falls to 3-9 in the conference and 5-11 overall.
