Game Summary

WINONA, Minn. — Nick Ivory hit a jump shot with 28 seconds remaining to give Augsburg its first lead of the game, 71-70, as the Auggies rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit to beat the Saint Mary's University men's basketball team 72-70 Saturday afternoon at the SMU Gym.

After Matt Davis hit the second of two free throws to push Augsburg's lead to two, 72-70, the Cardinals had one last chance to send the game into overtime, but Sam Pociask's (Manasha, Wis.) driving layup circled the rim but would not fall as SMU dropped to 1-3 in the MIAC and 1-6 overall.

Jason Dzick (Duluth, Minn.) scored 19 of his game-high 23 points in the first half, while Nick Michaels (Dyer, Ind.) added 20 points — including 13 in the first half as Saint Mary's raced to a 41-32 lead. The two hit 8 of 11 3-pointers as the Cardinals shot 50 percent from beyond the 3-point line. Jeff Willihnganz led five Augsburg players in double figures with 14 as the Auggies pushed their league-leading record to 5-0 (6-3 overall).
