Game Summary
WINONA, Minn. — Nick Michaels (Dyer, Ind.) scored a game-high 18 points and Jason Boll (Sauk Prairie, Wis.) added 17 to lead four players in double figures, but it was not enough as theSaint Mary's University men's basketball team dropped its fourth straight game, falling to Bethel 81-71 in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game Monday evening at the SMU gym.
The Cardinals (1-4 MIAC, 1-7 overall) battled their way to a one-point, 37-36 halftime lead, thanks to Jason Dzick's (Duluth, Minn.) 3-point, half-court shot at the buzzer, but SMU could not hold the lead in the second half as the Royals (3-2, 5-4) used a 45-34 scoring advantage over the final 20 minutes to seal the victory. The loss was the fourth straight in which SMU was leading or tied at the half.
Along with Michaels and Boll, the Cardinals also got double-figure scoring from Andy Bohnker (Story City, Iowa) (13 points) and Dzick (12 points). Andy Gilbert lead four Royal players in double figures with 17 points. Eric Robertson chipped in 12 points, while Drew Brodin netted 11 and Brett Repasky tallied 10.
