Game Summary
MOORHEAD, Minn. — It wasn't quite the encore performance the Saint Mary's University women's soccer team was hoping for.
After breaking out of a season-long offensive slump with a four-goal performance in last Tuesday's 4-3 double-overtime win over St. Catherine, the Cardinals were hoping for a repeat performance Saturday against Concordia.
They got a repeat performance, all right — from the opposition
For the third straight game, the Cardinals gave up three goals, but, unlike Tuesday's offensive barrage, SMU managed just one goal against the Cobbers en route to a 3-1 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference setback.
Kendra Lee beat SMU goalkeeper Colleen O'Hearn (Champlin, Minn.) twice before the game was even 20 minutes old, and Meghan Hansen added the Cobbers' third first-half goal six minutes later as Concordia took a 3-0 advantage into halftime.
The Cardinals wasted little time cutting the deficit to two as Katie Curran (Apple Valley, Minn.) beat Cobber goalkeeper Kathy Braun just six minutesinto the second half.
That quick offensive burst, however, was all SMU could muster, as the Cardinals (2-7-2 overall) dropped their fourth conference game in six tries (1-4-1).
