Game Summary

ST. PETER, Minn. — Bobby Johnson scored 19 points and Gustavus held off a late-second half charge en route to a 66-63 victory over the Saint Mary's University men's basketball team Wednesday evening.

The Cardinals, trying to earn a split in the season-series with the league-leading Gusties, quickly erased a five-point GAC halftime lead, outscoring Gustavus 25-11 to take the game's biggest lead at 54-47. An 11-2 Gustavus run put the Gusties back up top, 58-56, but a basket by Nick Michaels (Dyer, Ind.) and a pair of free throws by Jason Boll (Sauk Prairie, Wis.) put SMU up 60-58 with 4:51 remaining. That would be the last time the Cardinals would lead, however, as Gustavus rattled off seven unanswered points to put the game out of reach.

Michaels scored a team-high 16 points, while Andy Bohnker (Story City, Iowa) posted his first double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Boll also finished in double figures for SMU (2-11, 3-14) with 10 points.
