Game Summary

ST. CLOUD, Minn. — The struggles continued for the Saint Mary's University men's hockey team Saturday afternoon as St. John's rattled off seven unanswered goals en route to a 7-2 win, extending the Cardinals' winless streak to 10 games.

Todd Hangge (Rochester, Minn.) put the Cardinals on the board first, scoring at the 6:43 mark of the first period as he took a feed from Bryan Trottier (Doylestown, Pa.) and beat SJU goalie Rick Gregory.

From there, however, it was all St. John's, as the Johnnies scored once in the first period, three times in the second and three times in the third as they handed the Cardinals their fourth straight loss and kept SMU winless since a 7-6 win over UW-Eau Claire on Jan. 5 (0-8-2).

Ryan Stinson (Winona, Minn.) scored his team-leading 17th goal at the 12:54 mark of the third period to account for SMU's second goal. Dan Byron (Edina, Minn.) stopped 15 of the Johnnies' 19 shots through two periods, while Eric Richardson (Skokie, Ill.) had eight third-period saves for the Cardinals.
