Game Summary

ST. CLOUD, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University men's hockey team ended one streak, but, unfortunately, another was left in tact as the Cardinals batlted to a 1-1 tie with St. John's Sunday afternoon.

The tie snapped the Cardinals' four-game losing streak, but at the same time, it extended their winless streak to 11 games (0-8-3).

The two teams batlted to 0-0 ties after the first two periods, then both scored their lone goals just 41 seconds apart in the third period. The Johnnies got on the board first, ending SMU goalie Eric Richardson's (Skokie, Ill.) bid for a shutout at the 12:26 mark. SMU answered right back as Matt Hangge (Rochester, Minn.) beat St. John's goalie Rick Gregory at the 13:07 mark to knot the game at 1-1.

Richardson finished with 32 saves, including 10 in the first period when the Cardinals were outshot 10-2, while Gregory recorded 38 saves, including 20 in SMU's 21-shot third period.
