Game Summary

WINONA, Minn. — Kermit Cooper scored on an alley-oop dunk with less than 50 seconds remaining in regulation to give the lead for good as the Cobbers rallied for a 69-64 victory over the Saint Mary's University men's basketball team Monday evening at the SMU gym.

Nick Michaels (Dyer, Ind.) scored eight straight points — including back-to-back 3-pointers — with less than two minutes remaining as the Cardinals grabbed a 64-63 advantage, but the Cobbers responded with Cooper's dunk and four free throws by Joe Snowden down the stretch to ice the win and lock up an MIAC playoff berth.

Michaels finished with a team-high 21 points, while Jason Boll (Sauk Prairie, Wis.) chipped in 18 for the Cardinals, who lost for the second straight time, despite shooting 55 percent from the field (11-for-20) in the second half.

Snowden netted a game-high 25 points — including an 11-for-12 showing from the free throw line — while Cooper tallied 20 points for the Cobbers (10-8 MIAC, 13-9 overall).

Concordia led by one, 32-31, at halftime, converting on 10 of 13 first-half free throws, while SMU went to the line just four times, making all four.
