Boll's last-second basket lifts Cardinals

Game Summary

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Jason Boll (Sauk Prairie, Wis.) hit the game-winnign shot with nine seconds remaining in regulation as the Saint Mary's University men's basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak with a 72-71 MIAC win over Macalester Wednesday evening.

The Cardinals, down by seven points with six minutes remaining, scored eight unanswered points, the final two on a pair of free throws by Nick Michaels (Dyer, Ind.) with two minutes remaining, to take a 70-69 advantage. Macalester returned the favor with a pair of free throws to regain the lead 71-70 and set up Boll's last-second heroics.

Andy Bohnker (Story City, Iowa) and Dusty Ward (Lakeville, Minn.) each scored 15 points to lead the Cardinals (4-15 MIAC, 5-18 overall), who also got 12 points from Boll. Ben Van Thorre scored a game-high 21 points, while Doug Benson added 12 and Ryan Gerry 11 in the losing effort for Macalester.
