ST. PAUL, Minn. — St. Thomas proved why it was to be considered one of the top teams in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as the Tommies manhandled the Saint Mary's University women's tennis team 9-0 in the conference opener for both teams Tuesday evening.

Anna Tomes (Houston, Texas) dropped a 6-2, 6-4 decision at No. 3 singles, but that was as close as SMU would get.
