Nitara Frost (North Mankato, Minn.) recorded the shutout as the Saint Mary's University women's hockey team extended its winning streak to eight straight with a
7-0 victory over
Hamline Sunday afternoon.
The Cardinals, who improved to a league-leading 11-2-0, scored three times in the first period and twice in both the second and the third en route to the sweep of the Pipers.
Mo Hayes (Cottage Grove, Minn.) opened the scoring for SMU at the 11:13 mark of the first period, with
Monica Deringer (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) and Kemp also scoring in the game's opening 20 minutes.
Emily Kearns (Hopkins, Minn.) and Kemp made it 5-0 after two periods, while
Diane Amsden (North St. Paul, Minn.) and
Alyssa Hendlin (Minneapolis, Minn.) closed out the scoring with third-period tallies.
Frost stopped all 20 shots she faced en route to her second straight shutout — she also blanked St. Olaf in last Tuesday's 12-0 SMU rout.
