WINONA, Minn. —
Jenny Gilles (Keizer, Ore.) scored 16 points to lead for Cardinal players in double figures as the Saint Mary's University women's basketball team won its second straight game, beating Bethel 79-60 Monday evening at the SMU gym.
The Cardinals, who completed the season sweep of the Royals, led 39-30 at halftime, then used a 24-7 run in the first 10 minutes of the second half to put the game out of reach. The Cardinals outscored Bethel 40-30 over the final 20 minutes.
Along with Gilles' 16 points, SMU (8-8 MIAC, 9-10 overall) got 15 points from
Stacy Hammel (Manitowoc, Wis.), 14 from
Jaimie Lee (Eden Prairie, Minn.) and 12 from
Amy Burns (Winona, Minn.).
Colleen O'Hearn (Champlin, Minn.) chipped in seven points and a team-leading 10 rebounds.
Laura Jacobs scored a game-high 21 points and added 11 rebounds in the losing effort for Bethel, which lost for the 12th straight time.
