WINONA, Minn. — Carleton picked up four straight-set singles wins and won two of the three doubles matches en route to a 5-2 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over the Saint Mary's University men's tennis team Saturday afternoon.
SMU's Drew Jackola (Chisholm, Minn.) and
Jason Boll (Sauk Prairie, Wis.) picked up SMU's singles wins, with both going to a third set. Jackola opened his match at No. 3 singles with a 6-7 (4) loss, then turned it around with wins of 6-4 and 7-5. Boll, meanwhile, won his first set at No. 4 singles 6-2, then fell 3-6 to force a third set, which Boll won in a tie-breaker 7-6 (4).
The Cardinals (0-6 MIAC, 1-8 overall) return to action Thursday, when they travel to St. Olaf for an MIAC match.
