WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's tennis team snapped its five-match losing streak in impressive fashion Wednesday, as the Cardinals rolled to an 8-1 victory over UW-Stout at St. T's Tennis & Sports.
The Cardinals swept five of the six singles matches in straight sets, and the only singles match they didn't win —
Christina Tobin's (Houston, Texas) loss at No. 1 — when three sets, and a third-set tie-breaker.
Nicole Hilo (Mendota Heights, Minn.),
Kim Bennett (Fort Dodge, Iowa),
Anna Tomes (Stillwater, Minn.),
Dena Bing (Cannon Falls, Minn.) and
Keely Nyquist (Orono, Minn.) all cruised to singles wins.
SMU (3-9 overall) also swept the doubles matches as Hilo-Bennett, Tomes-Bing and Tobin-Nyquist teamed to make quick work of the visiting Blue Devils.
