MANKATO, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University men's tennis team put an end to its five-match losing streak in impressive fashion Thursday, as the Cardinals shut out Bethany Lutheran 7-0 in a nonconference match.
The Cardinals swept all six singles matches in straight sets, not losing more than four games in any of the eight sets won by
Geoff Granseth (Winona, Minn.),
Brad Reichuber (Mahtomedi, Minn.),
Jason Boll (Sauk Prairie, Wis.) and
Justin Voigt (Red Wing, Minn.). Drew Jackola (Chisholm, Minn.) and
Chad Boyer (Albert Lea, Minn.) found the going a little more difficult, with Jackola winning in a pair of tiebreakers at No. 3, 7-6 (1), 7-6 (1), while Boyer won 7-6 (0), 7-5 at No. 6.
SMU (2-12 overall) completed its 7-0 win with a sweep of the three doubles matches as Granseth-Reichuber, Jackola-Boll, and
Dustin Noble (Spring Lake Park, Minn.)-
Chad Brusky (Fond du Lac, Wis.) won 8-0, 8-5 and 8-4, respectively.
