WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's tennis team will be heading into the MIAC Championships with a full head of steam, thanks in part to a regular-season ending 6-3 nonconference victory over UW-River Falls Friday.
The Cardinals, who have now won four of their last five matches, got singles wins from
Christina Tobin (Houston, Texas),
Nicole Hilo (Mendota Heights, Minn.),
Anna Tomes (Stillwater, Minn.) and
Keely Nyquist (Ornono, Minn.), then closed out the win with doubles wins from
Kim Bennett (Fort Dodge, Iowa) and Hilo at No. 1, and Tomes and
Dena Bing (Cannon Falls, Minn.) at No. 2.
The Cardinals (6-10 overall) travel to Northfield, Minn., Friday and Saturday to take part in the two-day MIAC Championships.
