Game Summary

INDIANOLA, Iowa — The Saint Mary's University men's soccer team had its winning streak halted at three straight Sunday, but the Cardinals extended their unbeaten string to four straight with a 1-1 nonconference tie vs. Simpson.

Shawn Stewart (McHenry, Ill.) scored his third goal of the season midway through the first half as the Cardinals took a 1-0 lead into halftime. Simpson got the equalizer with less than 17 minutes remaining in regulation as Brad Spadenberg beat SMU goalie Matt Peck (Eau Claire, Wis.) on a direct kick. Both teams had a pair of shots on goal during the two 15-minute overtime periods, but neither could notch the game winner.

The Cardinals (3-0-1 overall) are back in action Monday, traveling to Cedar Rapids, Iowa for a nonconference game against Coe, before opening conference play on Wednesday against Augsburg.
