Game Summary

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The Saint Mary's University men's soccer team's four-game unbeaten streak came to a screeching halt Monday, as Coe, led by goalkeeper Eli Houpis' 11 saves, shut out the Cardinals 1-0 in a nonconference game.

The Cardinals, who had entered the contest with a 3-0-1 mark, could not find a way to get the ball past Houpis, who made seven first-half saves, then stopped all four second-half SMU shots for the shutout.

Rick Bright netted the game's lone goal, taking a feed from Brian Burdt and beating SMU goalie Bob Endemann (Woodridge, Ill.) 15 minutes into the second half. Endemann, making his first collegiate start, finished with six saves.

The Cardinals open Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, when they play host to Augsburg in a 4 p.m. game.
