Game Summary
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's soccer team put an end to its three-game losing streak Wednesday afternoon, but the Cardinals' 0-0 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference-opening 0-0 tie with Augsburg also extended two of SMU streaks.
The tie may have snapped SMU's three-game losing streak, but it pushed its winless streak to five straight — and also marked the fifth consecutive game in which the Cardinals have failed to score a goal, a streak that, ironically, started with a 0-0 tie vs. UW-La Crosse on Sept. 4.
SMU goalkeeper Colleen O'Hearn (Champlin, Minn.) notched her third shutout of the season, stopping all five Augsburg shots. Her counterpart, Laura Hoffman, was equally impressive, stopping all six SMU shots.
The Cardinals (1-3-2) return to action Saturday, when they play host to Carleton in a 1 p.m. game at Ochrymowycz Field.
