Game Summary
WINONA, Minn. — The search continues for the Saint Mary's University women's soccer team.
For the sixth consecutive game, the Saint Mary's University women's soccer team has come up empty-handed in the goal-scoring department as Carleton escaped with a 1-0 victory Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals, who are still searching for their first goal since Kim Rhomberg's (St. Louis, Mo.) tally in the second-half of SMU's season-opening 2-1 win over Viterbo on Sept. 2, managed just three shots on goal against the Knights.
Birungi Mutebi scored the game's only goal at the 13:49 mark, as the Knights' sharpshooter broke in behind the Cardinal defenders and in alone on SMU goalkeeper Colleen O'Hearn (Champlin, Minn.). O'Hearn came out and challenged Mutebi on the breakaway, forcing her to dribble to her right, but the Carleton senior was still able to lace a shot past a diving O'Hearn and into the lower left corner of the net.
Trailing 1-0 and struggling to get their offense on track, things went from bad to worse as a driving rainstorm made mounting any type of offensive attack nearly impossible.
O'Hearn finshed with nine saves, while Carleton goalie Cara Jones stopped all three shots for her second straight 1-0 shutout victory.
