WINONA, Minn. — Colleen O'Hearn (Champlin, Minn.) and the Saint Mary's University women's soccer team ran their shutout streak to two straight Tuesday afternoon as the Cardinals battled UW-La Crosse to a 0-0 tie at Ochrymowycz Field.

O'Hearn, who shut out Viterbo in the Cardinals' season-opener on Sunday, stopped 14 UW-La Crosse shots — including four in overtime — as SMU improved to 1-0-1 overall.

"I was very happy with the way we played," said SMU coach Dan Blank. "We came out a little slow in the first half — (UW-L) came out and set a quick pace that seemed to intimidate us a little bit. But after that first 45 minutes, I thought we settled down and played very well."

After stopping 10 shots through regulation, O'Hearn was at her best in the overtime, stopping Jessica Manchester and Jackie Layden from point-blank range in the first OT, then making her best save of the game — a diving stop of a cross by Manchester — with 1:12 remaining in the second OT.

"La Crosse is a fast, quick team — very similar to the type of teams we'll be facing when we start conference play," said Blank, whose team managed just eight shots on the Eagles' Jessica Gammey. "Our performance today just proves that we can play with teams like this."
