Game Summary

NORTHFIELD, Minn. — Emily Kearns (Hopkins, Minn.) and Jaimie Mussehl (South St. Paul, Minn.) scored goals in the first six minutes of the first period and Nitara Frost (North Mankato, Minn.) posted her second straight shutout as the Saint Mary's University women's hockey team shut out St. Olaf 2-0 Saturday evening.

The Cardinals, who improved to 7-2-1 in the MIAC and 8-4-1 overall, wasted little time getting on the board, as Kearns scored 21 seconds into the opening period. Mussehl's goal came five minutes later and Frost made it stand up as the junior goalkeeper stopped all 21 shots she faced en route to her 15th collegiate win without a loss.

SMU, which beat St. Olaf 6-0 in the teams' first meeting on Friday, outshot the Oles 39-21, but St. Olaf goalie Andrea Smirth made things interesting by stopping 37 of the Cardinals' 39 shots.
