WINONA, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University women's basketball team rebounded from a disappointing loss to Concordia last Saturday in impressive fashion, routing Macalester 73-49 in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Atheltic Conference game Monday evening.

The Cardinals, who have now followed up all four of their losses this season with victories, improved to 8-3 in the MIAC and 10-4 overall — leaving them just one win shy of their win total for all of last season (11-14).

Jaimie Lee (Eden Prairie, Minn.) led a trio of SMU players in double figures, as the sophomore guard connected on 5 of 7 3-pointers en route to a game-high 17 points. Amy Burns (Winona, Minn.) chipped in 15 points, while Alissa Erichsen added 10.

Afton Hanson's 13 points and Sarah Jacoby's 10 led the way for Macalester (1-8 MIAC, 2-10 overall), which lost for the eighth straight time.

SMU put the game out of reach early, shooting 50 percent from the field (14 of 28) — including 4 of 6 from 3-point range — in building a commanding 40-27 first-half advantage. The consistency stayed in the second half as SMU again shot 50 percent from the field (12-for-24) in outscoring the Scots 33-22.
