Game Summary
WINONA, Minn. — St. Olaf turned the tables on the Saint Mary's University women's basketball team Wednesday evening.
The Oles hadn't forgotten their first meeting against the Cardinals, a 68-58 SMU win on St. Olaf's home floor. And in the teams' rematch on the Cardinals' home floor, the Oles did something about it, taking advantage of the ice-cold second-half shooting by the Cardinals in handing SMU a 65-42 setback.
The Oles jumped out to a 29-25 halftime advantage, but broke the game open in the final 20 minutes, outscoring Saint Mary's 36-17, as the Cardinals hit just 4 of 21 field goal attempts. The Oles, meanwhile, connected on 10 of their 22 second-half field goals and added a 14-for-20 showing from the free throw line to put the game away.
Alissa Erichsen (Spring Valley, Minn.) netted a team-leading 10 points for the Cardinals (9-5 MIAC, 11-6 overall), while Jill Johnson scored a game-high 12 points to lead St. Olaf (7-7 MIAC, 9-8 overall).
