Game Summary
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Nick Michaels (Dyer, Ind.) knocked down 5 of 6 3-pointers and scored a game-high 26 points as the Saint Mary's University men's basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak with a 72-69 win over Augsburg Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals, who trailed 40-39 at the half, used a 19-3 run to take a 58-45 advantage with 11:31 remaining and never looked back in improving to 2-4 in the MIAC and 2-7 overall. Augsburg actually cut the lead to two, 66-64, but that was as close as the Auggies would get in suffering their fourth straight loss.
Along with Michaels' 26 points, SMU also got 11 points from Jason Dzick (Duluth, Minn.), Ryan Wilt (Naperville, Ill.) and Brett Johnson (Onalaska, Wis.). Along with his 11 points, Wilt also pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.
Jay Howard had a double-double of his own to pace Augsburg (2-4 MIAC, 6-5 overall), scoring 24 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Teammate Adam Kotewa added 16 points in the losing effort.
