WINONA, Minn. — Jamie Rattunde (Rollingstone, Minn.) scored a game-high 13 points as the Saint Mary's University women's basketball team rebounded from a 79-62 loss to St. Thomas last Wednesday with a 49-46 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win over Augsburg Saturday.
The Cardinals struggled from the field all afternoon, hitting just 31 percent of their shots — including just 7 of 31 in the second half — but still managed to pick up their fifth conference win in seven tries.
Beth Walch (Altura, Minn.) chipped in nine points for SMU, while Amy Burns (Winona, Minn.) and Colleen O'Hearn (Champlin, Minn.) each finished with eight.
Allison Illa scored 12 points and Julie Andert talled 10 in the losing effort for Augsburg (2-5 MIAC, 3-7 overall).
SMU held a one-point, 28-27, lead at halftime, then used a 21-19 scoring edge over the final 20 minutes to secure the win.
