Game Summary

LOVES PARK, Ill. — All season long, Brian Reddish (Crystal Lake, Ill.) has been the setup man for the Saint Mary's University men's soccer team.

Through the Cardinals' first 11 games, Reddish had amassed a team-high four assists. The SMU freshman picked the perfect time to step out of the shadows and onto center stage as Reddish scored a pair of first-half goals — the first two of his collegiate career — as the Cardinals held of Rockford 2-1 in a nonconference game Friday evening.

Reddish opened the scoring just 14 minutes into the game, taking a feed from Tim Clemans (Cary, Ill.) and beating Rockford goalie Ryan Frisbie. Reddish and Clemans teamed up again eight minutes later as SMU pushed its lead to 2-0.

Rockford, which failed to put a shot on goal in the first half, finally got on the board midway through the second half on Jason Cockfield's unassisted tally.

The Cardinals, who have alternated wins and losses through its last seven games (four wins, three losses), improved to 5-5-2 overall, while Rockford dropped to 3-11-1.
