Game Summary
LISLE, Ill. — It took more than 447 minutes, but the Saint Mary's University women's soccer team finally scored its first goal of the season Sunday afternoon.
More importantly, that one goal was all the Cardinals needed as SMU snapped its season-opening four-game losing streak with a 1-0 victory over Benedictine University.
After getting shutout in each of its first four games — and for the first 87:48 of Sunday's contest — Bernadette Balla (Barrington, Ill.) finally got the Cardinals on the scoreboard, scoring an unassisted goal that proved to be all the offense SMU would need.
Dianna Kyllo (Kasson, Minn.) needed to make only two saves to record the shutout, while SMU finished with four shots on goal.
