Match Summary

ST. PAUL, Minn. — For the second time in as many matches, the Saint Mary's University volleyball team came close to pulling out a key conference victory.

Unfortunately, as the Cardinals once again learned firsthand, close doesn't count.

SMU — wihch lost to Bethel 3-0 last Wednesday — dropped its second straight MIAC match Friday evening, as St. Benedict, behind a 15-kill, 25-dig performance from Alicia Pohlman, handed the Cardinals a 3-1 (30-26, 26-30, 30-28, 30-25) setback.

Kirstan Rouzer (Comstock, Wis.) and Tracy Koertgen (Crystal Lake, Ill.) each finished with a team-high 15 kills for the Cardinals. Rouzer and Erin Coleman (Austin, Minn.) each tallied 20 digs, while Ashley Dingels (Gibbon, Minn.) chipped in 13 kills and Melissa Cowan (Algonquin, Ill.) dished out 56 assists.
