Match Summary

WINONA, Minn. — When the Saint Mary's University volleyball team gets on a roll, there's no stopping them.

Thanks to a pair of 3-0 victories in Friday's opening round of the SMU Sugar Loaf Classic, extended a rather impressive streak — five straight match wins without losing a game.

Fresh off a one-hour, 3-0 drubbing of St. Catherine in the opening round, SMU needed a little more time against its second opponent, Luther, but the result was the same, as the Cardinals rode the 14-kill effort of Ashley Dingels (Gibbon, Minn.) to a 3-0 (30-21, 30-26, 30-17) win over the Norse Friday.

Tracy Koertgen (Crystal Lake, Ill.) and Kirstan Rouzer (Comstock, Wis.) also enjoyed double-figure nights in the kill department, tallying 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Koertgen hit a team-leading .444, while Rouzer also chipped in nine digs. Melissa Cowan (Algonquin, Ill.) finished with 39 assists and Erin Coleman (Austin, Minn.) tallied a team-high 11 digs as SMU improved to 5-1 overall.
