Game Summary

ST. PAUL, Minn. — After a season-full of bad bounces and bad luck, it appeared like the tide was finally turning for the Saint Mary's University men's soccer team.

The Cardinals entered Saturday's Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game against St. Thomas in the midst of their first two-game winning streak of the season —  thanks to a pair of one-goal victories (1-0 vs. Bethel and 3-2 in double overtime vs. Carleton).

SMU coach Eric Luzzi will be the first to admit that SMU wasn't at its best in either of those two wins — but the Cardinals finally got the ball to bounce their way.

Unfortuantely for the Cardinals, they needed more than a few lucky bounces against St. Thomas, as the Tommies put together a dominating performance en route to a 2-0 victory over SMU.

The Tommies got on the board at the 12-minute mark as Joe Roedler beat SMU goalkeeper Tyler Nelson (Racine, Wis.). Matt Raplinger closed out the scoring seven minutes into the second half as UST avenged last year's 2-0 loss to the Cardinals.
