WINONA, Minn. — They entered Wednesday's nonconference match against Northwestern having only played six matches.
But despite the short number of matches, the Saint Mary's University men's tennis team has certainly had its share of highs and lows.
And wednesday's effort was certainly a high.
The Cardinals won four of the six singles matches and all three doubles matches en route to a 7-2 win over Northwestern.
"We played a solid match from start to finish," said SMU coach
Jeff Halberg, whose team improved to 3-4 overall. "Hopefully it's a sign that we are turning the corner as a team."
Mark Leeder (Greenfield, Wis.),
Bryan Haville (Onalaska, Wis.), Dan Fehey and
Kevin Wriskey (Minneapolis, Minn.) were all victories in singles action, while the doubles teams of Leeder-
Tyler Stevenson (Neenah, Wis.), Haville-
Andrew Pamperin (Menomonie, Wis.) and Fehey-
Chad Brusky (Fond du Lac, Wis.) picked up doubles wins.
