WINONA, Minn. — If the Saint Mary's University men's tennis team was feeling any ill effects from last Sunday's 7-2 loss to St. Scholastica, they certainly didn't show it Tuesday.

Led by a sweep of the three doubles matches, the Cardinals rebounded from that disappointing loss in convincing fashion, posting a 6-3 nonconference win over Martin Luther.

"We needed to juggle our lineup a bit because of a few nagging injuries, but we were able to put together some nice (doubles) combinations," said SMU coach Jeff Halberg, whose team has now won three of its last four to even its overall record at 5-5. "Martin Luther put up a tough fight in the singles matches, but we were able to pull it out."

Tyler Stevenson (Neenah, Wis.), Mark Leeder (Greenfield, WIs.) and Dave Neumann (West St. Paul, Minn.) earned straight-set singles wins, with Nuemann's 6-3, 6-0 triumph at No. 6 singles marking his first collegiate win. Greg Hamman (Fairmont, Minn.) nearly gave the Cardinals a fourth singles win, but the sophomore came out on the short end of a 5-7, 6-4, 11-9 match at No. 5.

In doubles, Stevenson teamed with Bryan Haville (Onalaska, Wis.) for the first time this season and posted an 8-5 win oat No. 1, while Leeder and Chad Brusky (Fond du Lac, Wis.) were 8-6 winners in their first match together at No. 2, and Andrew Pamperin (Menomonie, Wis.) and Kevin Wrisky (Minneapolis, Minn.) were 8-1 winners at No. 3.
