ST. PAUL, Minn. — For the second straight match,
Geoff Granseth (Winona, Minn.) and
Bryan Haville (Onalaska, Wis.) have carried the load for the Saint Mary's University men's tennis team.
And their shoulders are getting tired.
Granseth and Haville, who posted wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, as well as at No. 2 doubles, in the Cardinals' 6-3 loss to St. Olaf on Tuesday, picked up their second straight No. 2 doubles win Wednesday against Hamline.
Unfortunately for the Cardinals, that was the only match that went their way, as Hamline rolled to an 8-1 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win.
Granseth almost came away with a win at No. 3 singles, falling in three sets to Hamline's Ben Krueger, 6-3, 2-6, 10-8. But the Cardinal senior got a bit of revenge when the two met at No. 2 doubles, as Granseth teamed with Haville to beat Krueger and Ben Watkins — a 6-3, 6-3 winner over Haville at No. 4 singles — 8-6.
