Game Summary

OSHKOSH, Wis. — When the Saint Mary's University men's soccer team opened its season against Pacific Lutheran, the Lutes had not lost a game.

Two days later, the Cardinals squared off against Puget Sound, and the Loggers entered the game unbeaten.

Last Wednesday in its home opener, SMU played host to a Loras team that was in the midst of a season-opening three-game winning streak.

And Sunday, the Cardinals traveled to UW-Oshkosh to face the 2-0 Titans.

Unfortunately, for the fourth time in as many tries, the Cardinals were unable to put an end to their opponent's season-opening winning streak as UW-Oshkosh handed SMU a 1-0 nonconference setback.

Derek Kasten scored the game's only goal less than two minutes into the second half, taking a feed from Shane Lohr and beating SMU goalkeeper Bob Endemann (Woodridge, Ill.).

Endemann finished with five saves, while UW-Oshkosh goalkeepers Ryan Dineen and Bobby Post combined on a five-save shutout.
