Game Summary

MOORHEAD, Minn. — For 20 minutes, the Saint Mary's University men's basketball team was every bit as good as Concordia.

For the other 20 minutes, however, the Cardinals weren't even in the same league as the Cobbers.

And it was that latter 20 minutes that did the Cardinals in, as Concordia outscored SMU 39-24 in the second half — thanks in part to SMU's 8-for-28 performance from the field — en route to a 75-57 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory.

The Cardinals, who shot 53.6 percent from the field in the first half – nailing 15 of 28 field goals — and trailing by just three, 36-33, heading into the locker room at the intermission.

In the second half, SMU's hot hand turned ice cold, making just eight field goals in scoring its 24 second-half points. Concordia, in contrast, missed fewer field goal attempts than the Cardinals made, going a sizzling 15-for-22 from the field (68.3 percent) to improve to 7-3 in the MIAC and 10-4 overall.

Terrence Smith (Broadview, Ill.) scored a team-high 12 points for the Cardinals, who dropped their fourth straight in falling to 1-9 in the MIAC and 2-13 overall. Jimmy Wajda (Minneapolis, Minn.) chipped in 10 points for SMU, while Josh Downey led four Concordia players in double figures with a game-high 21 points.
