NORTHFIELD, Minn. — A year ago, the Saint Mary's University women's soccer team managed just two shots on goal in its Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game against Carleton.

The Knights, meanwhile, attempted 31 shots, including 16 of which found the Cardinals' goal.

Yet, it was the Cardinals who made good on both of their shots – including Kim Volkart's (Winona, Minn.) game-winning goal with less than four minutes remaining in the second overtime — as Saint Mary's knocked off the Knights 2-1.

New year, same Carleton domination.

Only this time, it was the Knights who got the double-overtime game-winner — off the foot of Lisa Driscoll with four minutes left in the second OT — en route to a 1-0 win over SMU Tuesday.

The Knights weren't able to match their 31 shots attempted from a year ago — finishing with 30, including 13 on SMU goalkeeper Jennifer Johnson (Racine, Wis.) — but defensively they were better than 2003, holding the Cardinals without a shot on goal.

In fact, SMU attempted just three shots — two from Amy Cory (Crystal Lake, Ill.) and one from Abbey D'Acquisto (Racine, Wis.) — none of which found the Carleton net as the Cardinals fell to 2-4-0 in the MIAC and 5-7-1 overall.
