Game Summary
NORTHFIELD, Minn. — After back-to-back games in which the Saint Mary's University men's soccer team was extended into double-overtime, it was nice for the Cardinals to get through a game during a normal, 90-minute work day.
Unfortunately for the Cardinals, there was nothing normal about Wednesday's game, as St. Olaf scored two goals in each half en route to a 4-1 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over the Cardinals.
The Cardinals got on the board first as Mike Schmitt (Woodridge, Ill.) scored his team-leading third goal of the season just six minutes into the opening half.
From there, however, it was all St. Olaf, as the Oles got first-half goals from Abu Farah and Noah Hallbach nine minutes apart midway through the first half, then added second-half goals by Faiz Abdirahmen and Mustafa Dualeh in extending SMU's winless streak to four straight (0-3-1).
Bob Endemann (Woodridge, Ill.) dropped eight shots for the Cardinals (1-6-1 MIAC, 2-9-3 overall), while Kyle Trimble stopped one of the two shots he faced for the Oles (6-1-1 MIAC, 9-4-1 overall).
