Game Summary

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Now this is a streak that Saint Mary's University women's hockey coach Duncan Ryhorchuk can get used to.

For the third straight game, the Cardinals posted a shut out Sunday afternoon, as SMU got a goal and two assists from Rachel Harrison (Madison, Wis.) en route to a 4-0 nonconference victory over Buffalo State.

The Cardinals, who have not surrendered a goal since the 19:57 mark of the third period of a 3-0 loss to Gustavus on Feb. 7 — a span of 180:03 minutes — were never challenged, outshooting Buffalo State 42-8, while scoring single goals in the first and third periods, and adding two goals in the second.

Alissa Schultz (LeSueur, Minn.) got the Cardinals on the board with 1:09 remaining in the opening period, as SMU held a 15-3 edge in shots on goal and a 1-0 lead heading into the locker room after one period.

SMU's dominance continued in the second period, as the Cardinals held Buffalo State to one shot on goal, while adding goals by Harrison and Jenny Hocum (Rochester, Minn.).

And it was more of the same in the third period, where the Cardinals scored on one of their 15 third-period shots – a goal by Aja Walters (Fairmont, Minn.) with 2:19 remaining — while Nikki Jung (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) stopped the four shots she faced to complete her eight-save shutout.
