LA CROSSE, Wis. —
Tyler Stevenson (Neenah, Wis.) enjoyed a banner day Tuesday evening during the Saint MAry's University men's tennis team's nonconference match against UW-La Crosse.
The Cardinal sophomore improved to 4-1 in singles play with an impressive 6-1, 7-5 victory over the Eagles' Drew Pollek at No. 1 singles, then teamed with
Mark Leeder (Greenfield, Wis.) to post an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles.
Unfortunately for Stevenson, the rest of the SMU team couldn't follow his lead, as UW-L was the other five singles matches in straight sets and breezed to wins in both of the other doubles matches en route to a 6-1 nonconference victory over SMU.
The Eagles dominated the other five singles matches, not allowing SMU to win more than four games in any of the 10 sets. Leeder gave UW-L's Jon Palmer a battle at No. 2 singles, before falling 6-4, 6-3, but
Bryan Haville (Onalaska, Wis) lost 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3,
Tony Miller (Rochester, Minn.) was a 6-0, 6-0 loser at No. 4,
Adam Solseth (Shakopee, Minn.) fell 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 and
Dan Fahey (Brookfield, Ill.) dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision at No. 6.
