ARDEN HILLS, Minn. — The Saint Mary's University men's tennis team made it look easy Friday afternoon, as the Cardinals swept all six singles matches en route to an 8-1 nonconference victory over Northwestern.

"Everyone on the squad contributed to this win, which was a nice bonus," said SMU coach Jeff Halberg, whose team improved to 7-10 overall and snapped a three-match losing streak in the process. "We played some really solid tennis throughout, and hopefully we can carry that over into (Saturday's regular-season finale) against St. Olaf."

Tyler Stevenson (Neenah, Wis.) won his sixth straight match and improved to 14-3 at No. 1 singles with a straight-set win, while Mark Leeder (Greenfield, Wis.), Bryan Haville (Onalaska, Wis.), Tony Miller (Rochester, Minn.) and Kevin Wriskey (White Bear Lake, Minn.) were also straight-set singles winners. Adam Solseth (Shakopee, Minn.) completed the singles sweep with a 6-2, 6-7, 10-7 win at No. 5.

Leeder and Andrew Pamperin (Menomonie, Wis.) teamed for an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles, while Dan Fahey (Brookfield, Ill.) and Dustin Kresen (Riverside, Ill.) added an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles.
