Game Summary
ST. PAUL, Minn. — For 45 minutes, the Saint Mary's University men's soccer team stood toe-to-toe with one of the best teams in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
In fact, for 88 minutes, the Cardinals were every bit as good as the Scots.
For the other two minutes, however, Macalester clearly had the upper hand.
The Scots scored two goals two minutes apart midway though the second half, breaking opening a scoreless game and leading Macalester to a 2-0 win over SMU Wednesday evening.
SMU goalkeeper
Bob Endemann (Woodridge, Ill.) stopped all five shots he faced in the first half, as the two teams went into the halftime break tied 0-0. Endemann was pelted with eight more shots in the second half — including those off the foot of Michael Melamed and Miachael Dannenberg at the 60- and 62-minute marks that found the back of the net for the game's only scoring.
The Cardinals (0-1 MIAC, 0-3-1 overall), meanwhile, managed just a pair of second-half shots on goal, both stopped by Scot goalkeeper Tom Klezcewski.
