Game Summary
DUBUQUE, Iowa — It was a tale of two offenses Thursday evening.
For the Saint Mary's University men's soccer team, offensive opportunities were few and far between as the Cardinals managed just three shots on goal — all in the second half.
For Loras, offensive opportunities were at a premium, as the Duhawks attempted 29 shots, including 13 on goal — and three that found the back of the net, as Loras cruised to a 3-0 win over SMU in the season opener for both teams.
Sean Moran got the Duhawks on the board first, taking a cross from Nick DeMoss and heading it past SMU goalkeeper
Bob Endemann (Woodridge, Ill.).
The Duhawks scored again 18 minutes into the second half as Andy Zimmer's pass found the foot of Tony Stehn, whose shot eluded Endemann and found the back of the net.
Things then went from bad to worse for the Cardinals, who knocked a ball into their own net in the 69th minute to account for the final 3-0 score.
Endemann finished with 10 saves, while the Duhawk duo of Nick Murray and Kevin Smerko combined for the three-save shutout.
