Game Summary
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — They were flying high — nine goals in their last two games, and, more importantly for the Saint Mary's University women's soccer team, two straight victories.
Wednesday evening against Augsburg, however, the Cardinals and their new-found, high-flying offense, were grounded.
The Auggies scored two goals six minutes apart early in the first half and never looked back, snapping SMU's season-high two-game winning streak and handing the Cardinals a 4-1 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference setback.
Amy Cory (Crystal Lake, Ill.) — who scored five goals in SMU's wins vs. Rockford and Benedictine last weekend — accounted for the Cardinals' lone tally vs. the Auggies, netting her team-leading seventh of the season with 10 minutes remaining in the first half.
Augsburg added two more goals in the second half and finished with a 14-5 advantage in shots on goal.
The Cardinals (0-2-0 MIAC, 2-5-1 overall) return to action on Saturday, when they play host to Marian in a nonconference match at 1 p.m.
