Game Summary

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Michael Rohr (Bloomingdale, Ill.) had so much fun scoring a career-high 19 points in the Saint Mary's University men's basketball team's 84-79 loss at Concordia last Sunday that the freshman decided to do it again Wednesday.

And this time, he and the Cardinals got a win for their efforts.

Rohr eclipsed his career high by one, netting a game-high 20 points, in leading the Cardinals to a 61-49 wi over Augsburg in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game.

Rohr hit on 8 of 12 field goals attempts, including 2-for-3 from behind the 3-point line, ad was a perfect 2-for-2 from the free throw line en route to his 20 points. Eric Lear (Antoich, Ill.) added 16 points and Jeff Tendall (LeClaire, Iowa) tallied 13 as SMU won for the second time in its last three games to improve to 3-9 in the MIAC and 4-13 overall.

"Anytime you can get a win on the round, you've done a great job," said SMU coach Mike Trewick. "We played very well tonight — it was great to see Michael have another strong game offensively, and Dan Kloak (Elmwood Park, Ill.) did a phenomenal job on their leading scorer (Lucas Olson-Patterson), holding him to eight points under his average."

The Cardinals dominated the opening half, shooting 42 percent from the field en route to a 29-22 halftime edge. Augsburg scored a pair of baskets to open the second half to get within three, 29-26, but that was as close as the Auggies would get, as SMU used a 19-6 run in a six-minute span to take a 48-32 lead with 12:10 remaining.

"This was a big win for us," Trewick said. "Now we come home for three straight games — and hopefully we can keep things rolling."
