ST. PAUL, Minn. — The search continues for the Saint Mary's University men's soccer team.

The Cardinals, still searching for their first win of the season — and their first goal since a second-half tally in their season-opening 1-1 tie vs. Simpson — saw their offensive woes continue Wednesday afternoon, as Hamline handed SMU its fourth straight shutout loss, 2-0.

The Pipers, who extended their season-opening winning streak to 4-0, scored a pair of first-half goals 13 minutes apart, then played smothering defense in shutting down the Cardinals' offense.

Ryan O'Connor (San Diego, Calif.) finished the game with eight saves in goal for the Cardinals, while Andrew Clement stopped SMU's lone shot on goal — a second-half shot by senior Mike Boland (Lake Zurich, Ill.) with five minutes remaining in regulation.

The Cardinals (0-1 MIAC, 0-4-1 overall), return to action Saturday, traveling to Carleton for an MIAC match beginning at 1 p.m.
