RIVER FALLS, Wis. — Saint Mary's University women's swimming and diving coach Eric Lindquist had to wait nearly two months between his team's last two meets — a history making dual-meet win over Augsburg on Dec. 10, and a 115-88 loss to St. Catherine Friday night.

He didn't even have to wait 24 hours for his Cardinals' next performance.

And, once again, his Cardinals didn't disappoint — despite the final team scores.

"This was a very solid showing for us," said Lindquist, whose men dropped a 94-55 decision to UW-River Falls on Saturday, while the SMU women fell to the Falcons 121-67. "River Falls really pushed us along and I thought everyone showed up and really worked hard.

"We are at a point in our training where we are really working this kids hard, and to come out and swim the way they did — two days in a row — is great to see."

Danielle Braun (Cold Spring, Minn.) posted her second school-record performance in as many nights, as the SMU sophomore — who broke the 200 breaststroke record in Friday's nights dual-meet loss to St. Catherine — etched her name in the school record books in the 100 breaststroke on Saturday, winning the event with a time of 1:12.66.

Brian Joyce (Chicago, Ill.) posted a lifetime-best time in winning the 200 IM, while Andrea Hills (Lake Elmo, Minn.) placed second in the 100 butterfly (1:13.34) and Lisa Salm (Chilton, Wis.) recorded a season-best time of 59.57 to place second in the 100 freestyle.

"This is an exciting time of the year, and I really like the way these teams are coming together," said Lindquist, whose team closes out its regular-season with a home dual against St. Thomas next Friday, before competing at the MIAC Championships on Feb. 16-18. "I'm looking forward to next week's meet (vs. the Tommies) — and then the MIAC Championships. February could a be a great month for us."
