Game Summary
ST. PAUL, Minn. — Three-game losing streak … What three game losing streak?
Six-game winless streak … what six-game winless streak?
It's amazing what a victory will do to a coach's memory.
The Saint Mary's University women's soccer team snapped both of those streaks — a season-high three-game losing skid and a six-game (0-4-2) winless slide — on Saturday, as
Keirra Metcalfe (Pickering, Ontario) netted a first-half goal to lead the Cardinals to a 1-0 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win.
"This was a good win for us — and we needed it," understated SMU coach Tony Guinn. "I thought both teams played very well, we were just fortunate enough to score once and that was the difference.
"A win like this is huge for the team's moral," continued Guinn, whose Cardinals closed out their MIAC season with a 3-5-3 record and will end their season on Sunday with a nonconference game at Martin Luther on Sunday. "We've now won one in a row and hopefully (Sunday) we can make it two straight – which would be a great way to end this season and head into next season.,"
