MOORHEAD, Minn. — A day after dropping back-to-back dual-meet decisions to Hamline and Augsburg, the Saint Mary's University women's swimming and diving team was back in the pool Saturday afternoon.

And Concordia proved to be anything but a gracious host.

The Cobbers placed first in every event they competed in en route to a convincing dual-meet win over the weary Cardinals.

"I think the theme for the day was fatigue," said SMU coach Eric Lindquist. "Swimming back-to-back days, not to mention the long trek to Moorhead, and it was a long weekend for us.

"Give (Concordia) a lot of credit, they are a much stronger and deeper team than I expected," admitted Lindquist. "It's good to get a chance to see what the (MIAC) competition is going to be at the conference meet, and after the three meets this weekend, it's obvious that we've got our work cut out for us."

Kasey Schultz (Cary, Ill.) posted one of SMU's four second-place finishes to fuel the Cardinals, stopping the clock in 12:48.19 in the 1000 freestyle. Margaret Walsh (Chicago, Ill.) added a second in the 100 freestyle (1:02.88), while Courtney Keyler (Shorewood, Minn. / 1:10.37, 100 backstroke) and Sarah Hayden (Chatfield, Minn. / 137.60, 1-meter diving) also posted second-place efforts.

"I thought we had some pretty solid swims today," Lindquist said. "But we were pretty beat by the end of the day."
